Kentucky did not start like a top-four team. In the first set, their offense struggled against Louisville's block with a hitting percentage of .079. At the back, libero Molly Tuozzo had 21 digs, a season high, and matched the 20-dig mark for the fifth time in her career. Kentucky's backcourt held the team together during the moments when the offense was not yet clicking.

The result also matters in context. Kentucky closed non-conference play at 8-2 with two wins over top-five opponents. That is the kind of resume win the NCAA Tournament selection committee values, especially before SEC play begins. Louisville saw its ten-match winning streak end, but a road loss to a top-four team does not erase its status.
